Tami Burton-Reeder - Assistant Principal
Hi, I am Tami Burton-Reeder the Assistant Principal at Merrywood Elementary School. Fostering positive relationships with our students is the key to reaching them in order to teach them. I am a firm believer that getting to know people is essential to building strong working relationships.
So as I extend a (virtual) warm handshake to welcome you, let me introduce myself. I am delighted to be a part of the Merrywood Elementary family. I am an educator at heart and have been with Greenwood School District 50 for many years. I began my career in the district as a fifth grade teacher at East End Elementary. Over the years, several other wonderful schools have been my home. I’ve had the pleasure of teaching at Oakland Elementary and Brewer Middle. Most recently, I’ve served as the Assistant Principal at Rice Elementary and Mathews Elementary.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education as well as a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Lander University. I completed my Ed.S at Cambridge College in Education Leadership: Administration and Supervision. I am National Board Certified (Middle Childhood).
As a new Merrywood Musketeer, I look forward to building relationships with our students, teachers, staff, parents and community stakeholders as we ensure that our students are engaged in learning, growing academically, developing socially and preparing for success. One for all, and all for one!
